Lowestoft Corporation

Lowestoft was one of the many places that had a municipal bus service. Lowestoft Corporation operated the bus and, up to 1931, tram services. Buses were introduced in 1927. The corporation became Waveney District Council in 1974 and the bus service was sold by the council to Eastern Counties in 1977. The bus garage is on Rotterdam Road is still standing.[1]

Eastern Counties

After bus deregulation in 1986, most town services including the north-south routes taken over in 1977 were operated with minibuses. The 680 series of which these routes were numbered in, adopted in the 1970s, was replaced with a new series with L-prefix routes.
